Trying to have fun using Microsoft Windows at work
Posted on 10 November 2009
I would like use Debian GNU/LiNUX or maybe MacOS X at work but it’s quite complicated if you’re working in a big company with well defined standards for workstations and a lot of security policies. It’s not bad! There are a lot of good reasons to work in such a way but what a unix fan can do in that environment?
It’s so useful to define shell aliases for common tasks, define one o more crontab jobs for scheduled tasks, search files are so easily using grep command with regular expression. Virtual desktops are also powerful tools and keystroke launchers like Quicksilver or Spotlight in MacOS X are amazing,… I love keyboard shortcuts!
I’m going to write articles about open source and privative software that I was testing in Windows to help me to be more productive as I am in GNU/LiNUX & MacOS X.
Note: Adding this task to my next action list
